I refuse to go easy on myself. A clear synopsis for the first clip is about the struggle of school and the pressure of everyday life. In this project, me and Megan worked together and I believe the teamwork resulted better shots. There were a few weaknesses, like the difficulty of getting some of the shots. One part that was hard to edit was the anti-gravity scene, because we were forced to crop out me and travis who were holding the talent up. The most difficult part in these two projects was making sense out of it all.
In the second project, I was concentrating on showing how impatient I am. The themes are a bit hard to define, especially since the videos are not edited like I want. So one thing I'd like to improve on is trimming and working with the content.I recorded different gestures that further explain my Impatience. Most of my weakness derives from the point of all the technology for me. Sometimes the focus appears to be off and shots weren't as accurate as I wanted. The overall concepts of my pieces are probably hard to understand, that's when the editing will come in. In my gestural/transition film, I was afraid to cut out significant shots so I just put them all together.

The narration is clear, but tying an ending to it needs to be enforced.
The clarity could be revised with better shots and focus.
The only incomplete part I can find is the ending.
Each element fluctuates in potential, the most potential show I feel is the scene where she picks up the money.

I need to be more decisive on the scenes and what I'm going to show. Trimming is needed. The transition to Megan needs to be worked on. The clarity to this project would be more clear if the narration went straight through without any reshooting. This film doesn't need more shots, but does need more focus. The time flow needs to be reconstructed. I feel like the scene with the most potential is the opening scene when the camera follows me. The weakness in this film is the extra shit that is unneeded.

Concept: The curiosity of lust without love.
Act 1: Tevan is a college virgin who is constantly thinking about sex. He has grown up looking at women as sex objects, and one evening he is pleasuring himself realizing the aspects of his perversion that cause his fascination. The dramatic premise is the way Tevan thinks about sex and relationships with women. The first situation that later sets the plot is: Tevan is trying to go to sleep and overhears his roommate having sexual intercourse. With his camera charging by his bed, he decides to record this happening. His roommate Lenny, was not the type of guy who wanted to record his sex. The girl, Tiffany, turns her head and realizes that Tevan is recording and starts to laugh and smirk. She then tries to show off in front of the camera. When things get heated and the sex ends, Tevan throws the blanket over his head and is excited to view the video the next day.
The inciting incident: Tevan wakes up and can’t hold back from telling his douche bag friend, Alex, about the night before. Alex grabs the camera to view the video as soon as Tevan begins to explain the situation. Tevan was going to keep the video to himself but Alex convinces him to exploit the two. Alex says “ Everybody wants to see what people at this school have sex like, and besides she liked having an audience.
The video spreads across the school, and Tevan gained a reputation for recording it. The next day he notices that his roommate was not home but he paid no attention. He had a jock and cheerleader ask him to film their intercourse. The jock says “ I want to show the people what we got!” Tevan starts an underground website that exploits the people at his school having sex.
Act 2: Tevan is in class and a normal girl, Angela, asks him if he wanted to hang out afterward. Tevan looks at it as a chance to lose his virginity. On the date, Tevan can’t keep his mind off of sex as this girl asks about his interests. This is when the first culmination happens: Tevan goes for a kiss and the girl turns her head. He says, “ I record people have sex but I can’t figure out how to have some myself”. Angela reveals that it wasn’t even what this date was about. When she figures out who Tevan really is, she is disgusted. Tevan then goes home with a bad vibe. Tevan then hears a knock on the door, it’s Tiffany and she is crying. Lenny and her had to break up because they both got kicked out of school and her father won’t even let her see Lenny.Tevan goes to sleep feeling like the gross person he is.

Tevan is harrased by the jock for not exploiting his video. Tevan can’t stop thinking about Angela and her mind state. When he approaches her to apologize, she looks at him like dirt. He thinks about how she wanted his company without sex. He then realizes that there was more then lust between two people. He needed love and attention but lost the chance because of him seeking lust. He is still a virgin, but his views have expanded.

Tales!
For my Tale I chose an Irish myth about a god named Manannan, the son of the sea.
This is the short version of the story I created:

Act 1
Max(Main character) is introduced in the ghetto High school.(using Overton)
His day consists of working two jobs and taking care of his brother and mother.
During this act, it will show how Max is trying to get cash each and every way. He had to drop out of high school in order to fulfill his time making money.
A rich stranger (PLOT SETTER) drives by in a nice Lexus. Max asks where this man came from and how he came upon this fortune. The man pulls out a bag of drugs, crack,(This is a metaphor for the branch in the tale). The man tells him that the bag is worth 5 grand. If max sells three grand worth (representing the three exchanges) and returns it to the man, he can keep the other two.
Act 2
Max sells a lot of the crack but not all. The man comes back enraged. This is when
max’s obstacle occurs. The man kidnaps his mother and brother. Max goes out with his homeboys to finds this man.
First Culmination: Max looks confidently, then his boys either end up getting shot or backing out
(a metaphor representing the mist in the original tale.)
Mid Point: Max hits rock bottom realizing the strings the man is pulling on his life.

Strategies,concepts, and notes.
I've watched the films on the newest post. Wong Kar Wais strikes a certain mood that is about hopeless love.2046 was full of good perspectives and was kind of a collage of the future and past. I liked the man's make believe future train and attractive drones. The subject of a man loving a machine woman is intriguing because of the lack of emotion and personality.
I love Stanley Kubrick films in general but these short summaries help me understand more of the background and composition of his films. Clockwork orange and full metal jacket are two completely different genres,subjects and story. It's good to see a director take a different approach to each of his films. The shining is a horror film with many great shots and I believe it is Jack Nicholson in his prime. Another element I like about all Stanley Kubrick films is how unpredictable everything is. When watching one of his films, the audience will never guess what will happen next. I found the Barry Lyndon film to be very boring. The only parts I saw that I liked were the composition of people. It seemed like an a bunch of old moving paintings. The dinner scene on american beauty was played out really well. I like the sarcastic emotion,conversation, and care by the actors. Everyone can picture a model family eating dinner,it's like that, but far more dramatic. When Kevin Spacey quits his job and argues with his wife, it's very humorous.The angry walk to get the asparagus is drawn out and exaggerated. The closing scene strikes a serious note to the family as Kevin takes charge.I love it!
